The 6 foot 3 inch, 190 pound SCSU outfielder was drafted with the Cleveland Indians.

?I didn?t think I was going to get drafted,? Hansen said of being drafted in the 49^th round.

Hansen went on to say that he has not made a final decision about the draft pick but will more than likely be back at SCSU in the fall.

The junior wanted to play baseball at SCSU because of head coach Pat Dolan.

?Everywhere he?s been he?s been successful and I wanted to be a part of him turning the program around,? Hansen said.

While attending SCSU, Hansen is majoring in recreation and sports management.

?I have always been around sports and I want to be around sports when I grow up too,? Hansen said of his course of study. He added he always wanted this major or a similar major.

The love of baseball by his family is what motivates him, Hansen revealed.

?I want to make them proud,? Hansen said, adding that he has also always loved playing baseball, ?I started playing ever since I could walk,?

Hansen admitted that he has played about every position on the field but in college he has only played outfield.

A 2008 graduate of Rocori High School in Cold Spring, Hansen played football, basketball and baseball for the Spartans.

Playing in the Lions all star game as a senior is when Hansen had his most embarrassing moment.

?I slipped and fell in the outfield and missed the fly ball,? Hansen said.

?I still get crap all the time for it,? Hansen said because current SCSU baseball players played in the game with Hansen.

Hansen?s high school baseball coach died while Hansen was in high school.

?He was at practice one day and the next day he passed away,? Hansen said.

This was a motivating factor in the way Hansen lives his life, he admitted.

?I live life one day at a time, never know what?s going to happen or if you will have a tomorrow,? Hansen said.

?Living one day at a time? is a quote Hansen?s brother got him hooked on.

Currently Hansen is playing in the North Woods League for the Duluth Huskies. Hansen reveals he hopes he has a good year and will go back to SCSU and help the Huskies make it to the World Series in North Carolina in the next college baseball season.

?I want to be more consistent and be a leader on the [SCSU] team,? Hansen said of his current baseball goals.

Other goals Hansen admitted were to get drafted again to continue playing baseball after he graduates from college.

?I want to graduate,? Hansen said.

He would also like to go skydiving and visit Australia.

?I always wanted to go, I heard it was a lot of fun,? Hansen said of Australia.

Hansen revealed his baseball idol is Josh Hamilton. Hansen states Hamilton?s accomplishments and the obstacles he overcame to be successful as his reason he admires him.

Hamilton entered the MLB scene in 1999 and battled drug addictions and injuries to become the American League MVP in 2010.

?I have always looked up to him and how he lived his life,? Hansen said of his true role model ? his father.

Growing up his family has always supported him, Hansen said. ?They didn?t miss many games this year for my sister or me.?

Hansen is close with his family and admits they talk almost every day.

Hansen describes his family as competitive.

?We would go golfing on the course we live on. We?d pick teams and golf against each other,? Hansen said. He added he still golfs with his family.

With the competitive nature of his family Hansen developed a love for sports. For fun Hansen said he likes to play pick-up games with friends such as baseball, basketball or football.

As for the best moment in Hansen?s life he admitted he has had great moments but thinks the best is yet to come.

RIM annual meeting likely to exacerbate investor ire (Reuters)

TORONTO (Reuters) ? Research In Motion investors desperate for news about how the BlackBerry maker will reverse its sagging fortunes will likely leave Tuesday's annual meeting with their frustrations even more inflamed.

While some will demand changes to a management structure they say flies in the face of accountability, others are anxious for something - anything - concrete about RIM that will restore at least some of the stock's former glory.

Shareholders have had little to celebrate during a painful transition period for the company that once dominated the smartphone industry with its devices built around their secure email function.

RIM's profit fell last quarter and it warns of more pain ahead as it struggles to convince skeptics that its products can compete with Apple's iPhone and iPad and the high-end devices using Google's Android software.

RIM was slow to react to a changed landscape in which applications such as games and video play a larger role in consumers' choice of device and major companies allow their workers to use their personal phones to access work systems.

Its shares have wilted since a February peak, and a shrunken valuation around $15 billion is boosting speculation that a deep-pocketed rival could swoop in to buy the company at a bargain price.

"It's going to be feistier than normal because of where the stock is and everyone is pushing for them to split the CEO and chairman roles," said Matthew Thornton from Avian Securities.

An activist shareholder sought a vote to force co-founder Mike Lazaridis and his co-chief executive Jim Balsillie to relinquish their other shared role as board chairman, but later withdrew after RIM promised to study the issue.

The move is "a delaying tactic," said a governance expert at a firm invested in RIM who declined to be identified. "I would have thought they had a fairly clear signal that this is what the market wanted. They should have got the message."

BIGGER CONCERNS

But Avian's Thornton said corporate structure was the least of concerns for RIM and its shareholders.

"That's not going to solve their problems and it's not the reason for their problems, so it's all noise," he said.

At issue, as Thornton and many others see it, is RIM's fading relevance to erstwhile partners as it rushes to migrate its phones to the QNX platform powering its PlayBook tablet.

In August, RIM launched its BlackBerry Torch smartphone, a touchscreen and keyboard device with a refreshed operating system. It didn't turn many heads and major U.S. carrier AT&T soon after halved the price tag to boost volumes.

Lazaridis took to the stage of RIM's developer conference in September to extol the virtues of the PlayBook, but it didn't hit shelves until April. Critics complained that it was rushed.

RIM says it will deliver QNX-powered phones early next year and in the meantime will push out a batch of phones using an updated version of its existing software. It is not clear how long RIM will support both platforms, complicating efforts by developers to write programs for RIM products.

"What this company needs to do, as quickly as humanly possible but in a well-executed manner, is launch their next-gen operating system for smartphones," said Daniel Ernst, an analyst at Hudson Square Research, who has a "buy" rating on the stock.

Barring word on product launches or strategy, RIM has little room to impress investors with promises.

"When you're under the gun like this it doesn't matter what they say. ... What matters is how they're executing, and that's very hard to read," he said.

Jobs halt Wall Street rally, investors eye earnings (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) ? Stocks fell on Friday as a weak jobs report dashed optimism that the economy was emerging from a soft patch, leaving investors to hope earnings season would revive an appetite for buying.

The sell-off was broad and halted an eight-day streak for the Nasdaq, though stocks ended off their lows. U.S. employers added only 18,000 workers in June, short of even the lowest forecast, jolting buyers who had rushed into the market after some encouraging labor-market figures earlier in the week.

Despite the day's drop, the three major U.S. stock indexes ended higher for the week. The market is coming off a string of gains that reflected increased hope for an economic rebound and a strong earnings season.

"If you're going to get concerned about the jobs report, you should wait for earnings before going through a complete manic swoon," said Phil Dow, director of equity strategy at Minneapolis-based RBC Wealth Management, which oversees $164 billion.

"Our guess is that we'll see better-than-expected earnings and revenue, and combined with the valuation of the market, this is a compelling time to get in."

The S&P 500 components are expected to show earnings growth of an average of 7.3 percent in the second quarter, but estimates have been lowered in the last 30 days.

The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) slipped 62.29 points, or 0.49 percent, to 12,657.20 at the close. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (.SPX) shed 9.42 points, or 0.70 percent, to 1,343.80. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) dropped 12.85 points, or 0.45 percent, to 2,859.81.

For the week, though, all three major U.S. stock indexes rose: The Dow advanced 0.6 percent, while the S&P 500 rose 0.3 percent and the Nasdaq gained 1.6 percent.

Alcoa Inc (AA.N) is scheduled to report results on Monday as earnings begins. Among other companies on tap to report next week are JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), Citigroup Inc (C.N) and Google Inc (GOOG.O). Shares of Google slumped 2.7 percent to $531.99 after Morgan Stanley downgraded the Internet giant to "equal-weight," citing margin concerns.

The CBOE Volatility Index (.VIX) or VIX, widely seen as a measure of anxiety on Wall Street, finished the session unchanged at 15.95. The VIX is down 30 percent from a high reached on June 16.

"This reflects a lack of investor anxiety," said Natalie Trunow, chief investment officer of equities at Calvert Investment Management in Bethesda, Maryland, which manages about $14.8 billion. "Even though the data suggests a soft patch, investors don't see big clouds on the horizon that would prompt them to hedge their positions in a major way."

Shares of Monster Worldwide (MWW.N), an online employment agency, sank 3.2 percent to $14.65 on the jobs report. Monster's stock was the biggest percentage loser in the Dow Jones U.S. business training and employment index (.DJUSBE), which dropped 3.9 percent.

Banking stocks also fell, with the S&P's financial index (.GSPF) fell 1.3 percent, pressured by Bank of America (BAC.N), which shed 2 percent to $10.70 as the most actively traded stock on the New York Stock Exchange.

President Barack Obama cited the gloomy jobs report as one more reason lawmakers must strike a deal soon to raise the U.S. debt limit, saying the impasse was fueling uncertainty within financial markets and in the business sector.

On the upside, Merck & Co (MRK.N) rose 1.1 percent to $36.12 and was the Dow's top gainer.

Volume was extremely light, with about 5.95 billion shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, well below last year's daily average of 8.47 billion.

More than two stocks fell for every one that rose on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq.
