Summary

The telecommunications engineer installs and administers telecommunications equipment and services at multiple office locations and data centers. Services include:

• Voice messaging
• Call center
• Call recording
• Web collaboration
• Video/audio teleconferencing
• Emergency notification
• Faxing

This position is responsible for the coordination and continued execution of voice, data, and cellular services in addition to endpoint or ancillary equipment as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform system software and hardware changes and troubleshoot as needed the Call Server (PBX), Call Recorder system, Voice messaging / Auto attendant system, Contact Center, Adobe Connect, E911, Telephony Manager, Unified Communication Manager (UCM) and related systems.
• Perform repairs and installation of telephone sets, headsets and wiring.
• Perform moves, adds and changes (MACS) in the telephone system.
• Maintain and update video teleconference equipment and services.
• Provide time estimates for telecommunications projects and equipment installations.
• Coordinate with vendor account representatives and service technicians regarding system changes and system problems.
• On call and work alternate hours as necessary to provide coverage and ensure continuous availability of services during business hours.
• Design, write, test and implement custom reporting and routing programming for auto attendant and call center services.
• Administer emergency notification service, Agility Recovery Services, hosted audio and video conference services and equipment.
• Write and publish technical documentation for the use and maintenance of telecommunications equipment and services.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and at least 2 years supporting an enterprise telecommunications infrastructure and related services or an equivalent combination of education/experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Certifications in the following discipline: Telecommunications, voice/data networking.
• A comprehensive knowledge of PBX hardware, software, programming including voice messaging and contact center servers.
• Working knowledge of voice and data network media and topologies and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) hardware, configuration and capabilities.
• Working knowledge of public service telephone network (PSTN), E911 and cellular communications.
• Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated project management and business planning skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work alternate hours including evenings and weekends.
