WASHINGTON 9, ALASKA 2: Eastlake Little League of Sammamish, Wash. Scored three runs in each of the first two innings to defeat Abbott-O-Rabbit LL of Anchorage, Alaska in the Northwest Region tournament opener.

Jack Carper led off the bottom of the first with home run to right-center field for Eastlake LL (1-0 overall), which is making its first appearance in San Bernardino.

"In that inning we scored three runs so I probably boosted the rally," said Carper, who finished 2 for 4 and scored two runs.

"I think right out of the gate the guys are swinging the bat, they're very excited and they're ready to go," Washington manager Mel Jessee said.

Dalton Chandler, Washington's No. 2 hitter, followed with a single and scored on a double down the left field line by Will Armbruester, who advanced to third and scored on separate wild pitches

In the fourth, Washington's Jacob Dahlstrom hit a massive opposite-field home run that landed on top of the souvenir stand located on the other side of the right field fence. The 6-foot-1 right-hander finished 2 for 2 with three RBI.

Terren Sugita singled and scored and later walked for Abbott-O-Rabbit (0-1), which went 11-1 in district and state tournament

play coming into this week.
