USA Today Poll: Alabama tops NCAA football preseason coaches rankings

Receiving 58 of 62 first-place votes, the Alabama Crimson Tide open the 2013 NCAA football preseason as the No.1 team in the country according to the USA Today Poll?s coaches rankings.

With three first-place votes, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the team that many people predict will give Bama the biggest challenge this season comes in at No.2 in the polls. OSU is followed by (3) Oregon, (4) Stanford, (5) Georgia and (6) Texas A&M.

It comes as no surprise that half of the teams on the USA Today top 10 Poll are part of the ultra-competitive Southeastern Conference. The SEC is responsible for winning the last seven BCS National Championships, mostly due to the fact that Nick Saban has captured three of the last four with Alabama.

The fact that this team has 12 starters returning from last season?s championship team certainly justifies the fact that so much cash is raking in from so many people wagering on Alabama.

The truth is that this will be one of, if not the most balanced team in NCAA college football this year. Offensively, one of those starters returning to the team just to have a chance at a three-peat is Crimson Tide quarterback, AJ McCarron.

With a revamped offensive line that features projected first-round NFL pick, Cyrus Kouandjio at left tackle, McCarron and Amari Cooper are sure to put up monsters numbers through the air. On the ground, another talented sophomore is sure to reap the benefits of the O-line, as running back T.J. Yeldon is due to have a career year.

On the other side of the football, defense is where this team shines, and this year is no different. Saban will enjoy having two of the very best linebackers in the country with C.J. Mosley and Adrian Hubbard.

So as you can see, USA Today Poll listing Alabama as the No.1 team in the NCAA football preseason coaches rankings is certainly justified.

Is there anyone that can anyone beat Bama this season, or are they simply destined for a three-peat by winning their fourth BCS National Title in five years?
