Fall sports? seasons ? at the high school level ? can not be launched until Aug. 7 under guidelines established by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association.
Shawnee?s fast-pitch softball squad, under head coach Todd Boyer, will open the 2012 campaign Aug. 9 with a home battle versus Southeast.
Boyer?s squad will scrimmage defending state champion Dale at 6 p.m. Aug. 2 in Shawnee.
Included on the Wolfpack schedule is the Shawnee Tournament Aug. 23-25.
The Shawnee volleyball squad, under the direction of head coach Julia Holland, will also launch its year Thursday, Aug. 9 with a home assignment versus Tulsa Washington.
Holland has two preseason road scrimmages ? July 30 versus Westmoore and Aug. 2 opposite Norman North.

Shawnee basketball coach Ron Arthur was looking at plenty of youthful faces at the just-concluded Oklahoma Baptist University team camp.
?We lost a lot of points and rebounds from last year,? Arthur said. ?We are trying to figure out which young kids can step up and play this coming season. I think we will have pretty good depth. We could actually be super deep but only be able to play kids that can help us in certain situations.?
Shawnee went 6-3 during the regular phase of the Bison team camp with victories over Bethel, Prague, Del City, Tahlequah, Jones and fellow Suburban Conference member Deer Creek.
During the regular phase of the camp ? held last Friday, Saturday and Sunday ? Shawnee dropped decisions to Putnam North, Jenks and Okemah. Shawnee then lost to Okemah again Monday in the first round of the single-elimination tournament. ?Our goal at these camps is not to win championships but see how kids can help us during the season,? Arthur said. ?We competed pretty well all weekend at the tournament.?
Shawnee also attended a team camp at Oklahoma State and participated in a summer? league before finishing up at OBU.
?All in all, it was a pretty good summer,? Arthur said.

OBU still has several summer camps looming, beginning with a men?s boarding session July 8-12.
Also on tap for next week ? a July 9-12 softball camp and a July 8-12 men?s residential/commuter soccer camp (ages 9-19).
Other activities slated for Bison Hill are a women?s basketball boarding camp July 15-18; an elite volleyball boarding camp (ages 16-18) July 18-21; a women?s residential/commuter soccer camp (ages 9-19) July 22-26 and track clinics (ages 12-18) through July 22.
Anyone seeking further information on the camps can contact OBU.
