Free Fixes For Your Home With Home Improvement Grants

Sometimes it is all that a homeowner can do to keep up with essential home maintenance projects. When you need to make a home improvement and your budget is already stretched to the max, you may want to consider looking for a home improvement grant available through the U.S. government. There are several different sources where you can find out about these grants. You local HUD office, local housing non-profits, or your state and local authorities are all great places to check. While there are many different grants available, both private and public, they do all have certain eligibility standards.

Covered Repairs
There are many home improvements that can qualify you for a government grant. They include work on your doors, windows, siding or roof as well as major structural damage. Anything that may be a hazard to your health and safety may be covered. Other important systems to your house like sewer, water and electric are also frequently covered.
If you have a home that you need to retrofit to make it handicap accessible, you can generally find a grant to add ramps, bars and other improvements to make it usable for a handicapped person.
