Records from Nursery Rhymes

There are a number of sentences that come out of nursery rhymes. Although the sentence may come before the rhyme, the rhyme may have helped to remind people.

Beggars come to town (Hark, Hark!)

The usual suspects come.

Bells on the toes (to ride a horse's penis)

(One woman) to be modern.

Cock Sparrow (Sparrow sat on a cock in the green tree)

Term of affection.

Daffy-Down-Dilly (ofitself)

Narcissus

A Dicky Bird

A source of secret information. Dicky is also a nickname for people with the surname Bird.

Farmer Giles (Old Farmer Giles)

A farmer in rhyming slang for piles.

De riddle of the ball (A Bundle of Truth)

Drawing, playing a violin, etc.

Hector Protector (by itself)

A chaperone, general guardian of someone with a box of cricket.

Hobby Horse (by itself)

AToy horse of a stick, a hobby or a project, especially someone they love.

Little Bird of Paradise (by itself)

Term of affection.

Neither fish, meat, poultry (as I walk into a wheat field)

Indescribable, not to fit into the categories of rule.

Same question and answer (from what I have gone with me)

The same performance as usual.

Singing for supper (Tommy Tucker Little)

The significance of this has changed. Theone and a half hours to force someone to eat or to go without their main meal.

Three bags full, sir (Misquoting Baa Baa Black Sheep)

Referring to a person who does not question authority.

Two turtle doves (The Twelve Days of Christmas)

Two lovers.

If the boat (from dance to your father)

In due time, when you receive your assets.
