If you want some tips and opinions from someone who has some serious experience in SEO, check out this interview with Dori Friend, a top blog network expert. She is the founder of SEONitro.com, a site for powerful SEO services, tools, and training, and she is hosting a huge workshop/conference in September.
?
Here are some surprising highlights from the interview:
Google?s Changing Algorithm
- She argues that Google has always tried to make people believe ?content is king?, even when good content didn?t matter.
- More and more, off page factors like ?link density? and ?referral ratios? matter.
Small Business and SEO
Dori talks about how seo used to even the playing field for small businesses, but how it is changing:
- Small business owners like?askthebuilder.com?(which was once Google?s poster child) now criticize Google for its changes.
- Small businesses can still compete, but they have to ?look like the big guy? to Google.
Post Penguin SEO Strategy
Surprisingly, Dori argues that many of the same strategies which worked in the past, can still work today. She claims to be having great results with:
- Blog networks
- Press releases
- Fiverr (okay this is new)
Her most important advice: don?t trust everything that Matt Cutts says. Apparently, she has lots of evidence and stories that contradict Google?s official advice. It?s a great interview so be sure to check the whole thing out.
